The REVELution's  "Merry Thanksters" are a comedic, environMENTAL REFORMance Art troupe. Our name is partly an homage to Ken Kesey's Merry Pranksters, but also has to do with the method of our madness. The Merry Pranksters were responsible for many activities that would come to be known as performance art & were also engaged in anti-war activity during the late 60's & early 70's. Their happenings are well documented in Tom Wolfe's book "The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test". !

The Merry Pranksters experimented with psychedelics as a way to further their art & expand consciousness. The Viridian REVELution's Merry Thanksters experiment with quantum science in an effort to go further. Besides, illicit substances could, (as they did The Merry Pranksters & many other progressive art movements) ultimately prevent the fullness of our quest from being achieved & give opposing forces a means for disemboweling the peaceful environmental progress we seek. Additionally, psychedelics may only be a shortcut to conscious states that can be better achieved via natural methods (i.e. quantum consciousness & the meditative breath technologies of certain ancients, being studied by our Knights).

   Another difference is the signifigance of the name 'Merry Thanksters'. 'Thanksters' refers to the sate of quanscious thanksgiving that a Merry Thankster activley feels & projects when engaging in Thankster art attacks. This quanscious state flows from the considerplation of the goals of the REVELution as accomplished. In less esoteric words: Ask yourself & then consider what the world would be like if it were powered by renewable energy, free from petroleum pollutants, (& their resulting diseases) & people considered the cause-effect results of their consumption. Sounds like a happy place, don' it?
